About

Rachel Benjamin

Embracing Art, Nature, and Myself: Since childhood, art has been my steadfast companion, guiding me through life's adventures. Brighton, with its vibrant energy, became not just a city but my cherished home as I pursued fine art practice at Brighton University. For nearly two decades, I've shared my passion as an educator, shaping young minds and enriching my own artistic journey. Recently, she has embarked on a deeply personal quest, exploring the depths of her creative expression. Her art, a fusion of influences, reflects the symbiotic relationship between her surroundings and emotions. Nature inspires Rachel to capture fleeting moments and emotions, reflecting her journey of self-discovery. Despite moments of doubt, each piece reveals hidden depths, inviting viewers to connect with their own experiences.

What's happening

We were immediately drawn in Rachel's work by its intensity.

Nature, though her fevered subject, is depicted in an unconventional manner—not the picturesque landscapes, but rather the dark and mysterious forest. Her vibrant brushstrokes seem to breathe life into her paintings, evoking the eerie atmosphere of the woods. Yet, there is a sense of reassurance, as if her art whispers words of comfort.

Rachel's work embodies the essence of altruistic art, aiming to teach, heal and empower. It serves as a reminder of our shared humanity, acknowledging that we all face challenges but can still find joy amidst adversity. As James Baldwin aptly said, "Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced."

Rachel's art encourages us to confront our struggles and find solace in the beauty of resilience.
